A new trailer for the upcoming anime film The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes has been released, previewing the film’s planned theme song by singer-songwriter eill.

The new trailer for the film doesn’t feature a ton of new footage but instead acts as a preview for both the movie and its theme. Written and directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, the film is set to premiere in Japan on September 9, 2022.

The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes is based on a Japanese light novel written by Mei Hachimoku and illustrated by Kukka, which was originally published in July 2019. Since then, the light novel has received a manga adaptation, which has been going since July 2020, as well as the planned film.

“One summer morning before school, Kaoru hears an unsettling rumor — of a mysterious tunnel that can grant any wish to those who enter it, but ages them dramatically in exchange,” reads the official synopsis for the light novel. “At first, he writes it off as nothing more than an urban legend, but that very night, he happens upon the selfsame passage: the Urashima Tunnel.”
