After being announced in 2019, the Uzumaki (2023) release date has been a mystery to fans of the Manga. Based on the popular illustrator Junji Ito’s horror Manga series, the Uzumaki anime will also follow the same supernatural and psychological horror aesthetic. It is set in a town named Kurouzu-cho that is cursed by supernatural events and follows the story of Shuichi Saito, who believes that his town is indeed haunted.

The Uzumaki (2023) release date would arrive by late 2023.
The anime was put into development about four years ago, but it went through a series of delays. However, its first clip was recently launched at the Adult Swim Festival “Toonami on the Green” event. Furthermore, Adult Swim’s Senior Vice-President, Jason DeMarco, recently tweeted that the anime is confirmed to arrive later in 2023. However, its release month is not yet confirmed.

As the clip suggests, the black-and-white horror aesthetic of Junji Ito’s Manga will be easily brought to life in the Anime. In it, we will discover the foggy town of Kurouzu-cho in Japan through the eyes of Shuichi Saito and his girlfriend, Kirie Goshima. But the voice cast of the anime hasn’t been revealed yet.

The official synopsis of the anime reads:
“Kurouzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but a pattern: UZUMAKI, the spiral-the hypnotic secret shape of the world.”
