Pet Sematary: Bloodlines MPA Rating Revealed for Prequel to Stephen King Adaptation

With its release just a month away, the MPA has rated the Paramount Plus original movie Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, and it won’t be ducking out on the nasty stuff.

The movie acts as a prequel to the Stephen King novel Pet Sematary, and it will come to the Paramount streaming service with an R rating for horror violence, gore, and language.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines Plot, and Release Date Details

In 1969, a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow.

The movie stars Henry Thomas (Haunting of Hill House), David Duchovny (The X-Files), and Pam Grier (Jackie Brown). It’s directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer.

This marks the first time we’ve seen a prequel to Pet Sematary. Of course, we already had a sequel story featuring an eye-catching performance from Clancy Brown in 1992’s Pet Sematary II.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will be released on Paramount Plus on October 6, 2023.
