The Expendables Producers Address Franchise’s Future Following Fourth Movie

The Expendables producers Kevin King-Templeton and Les Weldon are open to wherever fans want the franchise to go after the forthcoming Expend4bles.

Speaking exclusively with Daily Express, Expend4bles producers Templeton and Weldon addressed where the franchise could be headed after the latest installment opens in United States theaters in September 2023.

“Nothing is off the table,” King-Templeton said. “We don’t know. It’s all about the fans.”

With King-Templeton and Weldon both saying the franchise will keep going “as long as there’s an appetite for it,” the producers did note some of the fight and stunt scenes in Expend4bles were “definitely modified” due to the film’s aging cast.

“You have to change a little because the cast is getting older,” King-Templeton said. “We evolved a little bit. We used the Jackie Chan stunt team so there’s definitely a lot of that Asian martial arts influence.”

Weldon added, “They are these action guys who stay pretty fit. They’re all in much better shape than I am even if they’re older than I am! I think it’s just that’s who they are. They don’t just let themselves go so when a movie like this comes up they’re ready. A lot of them do their own stunts and their own fighting.”

Expend4bles welcomes Megan Fox, Tony Jaa to the franchise

“A new generation of stars join the world’s top action stars for an adrenaline-fueled adventure in Expend4bles,” the synopsis reads. “Reuniting as the team of elite mercenaries, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone are joined for the first time by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia. Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, The Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table. But new team members with new styles and tactics are going to give “new blood” a whole new meaning. “

Expend4bles releases theatrically in the United States on September 22, 2023.
