Topo, the drumming octopus, returns in Aquaman 2 and is more of a main character this time around. Here’s what you need to know about Topo in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.
Who is the drumming octopus in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom?
The drumming octopus is Topo, an ally of Aquaman.
Appearing in both the original movie and now The Lost Kingdom, Topo is a recurring character who aids Aquaman in his adventures.
Topo will have “a stronger presence” and be “an actual character” in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, director James Wan said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. While fans of the character would have been happy to see the talented octopus in the first Aquaman, they will surely be elated to hear that he’s back in the sequel and has a bigger part to play.
While Topo has gained popularity thanks to the Aquaman movies, he actually originates from DC comics going back as early as 1959. His powers include super strength and super tough skin. He is also incredibly smart and can communicate with Aquaman using his voice.
It remains to be seen what Topo gets up to the Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom movie. Fans can expect to see the octopus joining Aquaman for some of the movie, with them both being shown riding together atop Storm, the seahorse.
