Listen to an Exclusive Track From the Dumb Money Soundtrack

ComingSoon is pleased to present an exclusive track from Dumb Money — original motion picture soundtrack. Listen to the track, Will Bates’ “Roaring Kitty,” below. Milan Records/Sony Masterworks will release the Dumb Money score soundtrack on Friday, September 22.

“As I started writing for Dumb Money,  an old friend showed me a rare instrument he’d seen online and thought I should buy it. An esoteric synth that has a cassette deck attached to it and was originally intended to be used as a Japanese poetry trainer. The keys are laid out in an unfamiliar microtonal scale. As soon as I got it I started messing around with it and came up with the Roaring Kitty theme,” said Will Bates of the music.

“I suggested to Craig the idea of incorporating horns and low brass, having always felt that the gritty sound of a coal miner’s brass band could evoke the struggles and triumphs of the working man. ‘That’s probably just because you’re British, but try it.’ I ended up playing all the brass and woodwind myself. I’m a pretty good sax player, but not brilliant at brass! However, those imperfections felt good against the electronic palette that Craig was looking for.”

“Everybody expects GameStop to fail. With this struggling brick-and-mortar business further drained by the pandemic, it feels like it’s only a matter of time. Hedge fund managers like Gabe Plotkin (Rogen) bet billions on the hope it does. Keith Gill (Dano) thinks otherwise,” says the synopsis. “Operating out of his basement as an amateur investor, he’s been adamant that the company is undervalued for years, posting regular updates and videos online to make his case. When a few average citizens start to pay attention, it sparks a bonfire. Keith’s wager becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as big-name investors like Gabe feel the squeeze of its rising stock price. It isn’t long before big money does everything possible to throw water on the grassroots movement.”
