Who dies in The Expendables 4?
Suarto Rahmat, played by Iko Uwais, dies
The main villain, Suarto Rahmat, is killed. He is played by Iko Uwais and, though he initially proves to be a match for the team, he ultimately loses and is killed.
Marsh, played by Andy Garcia, dies
The surprise villain, Marsh, turns on the team during a plot twist. The character, played by Andy Garcia, then dies.
Barney Ross, played by Sylvester Stallone, appears to die
Sylvester Stallone’s character, Barney Ross, appears to die early into the movie, however he is revealed to still be alive towards the end of the movie.
Taking Sylvester Stallone out early is unexpected in a movie where the main cast can seem invincible due to them being high-profile celebrities and overpowered action stars. Seeing the main character die early in the film would be devastating for fans, so it’s probably a good thing that he returned for the final act.
No other action stars are harmed in any major way. Their enemies, on the other hand, suffer countless losses, with many unnamed soldiers being killed by the army of action veterans. Basically, it plays out exactly how you might expect, especially if you’ve seen the previous three movies.
The twist with Andy Garcia’s character is fun, however, as fans might be expecting him to remain a good guy. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and he is punished for his betrayal.
