Sex Education Season 4: Is It the Last & Final Season?

Fans of the show are asking, “Is Sex Education season 4 the last and final season?” For those of you worried about the show ending, here’s the need-to-know info about Sex Education’s future on Netflix and whether or not new seasons are coming.

Is Sex Education Season 4 the final season?

Yes, Sex Education season 4 is the last season of the series.

The announcement for season 4 confirmed that the likes of Otis, Maeve, Ruby, Eric, and others would be returning for the final season of the series on September 21, 2023. Hence, we shouldn’t expect Sex Education season 5. Instead, Netflix might launch other Moordale-based spinoffs in the future.

Why won’t there be a Sex Education season 5?

Sex Education creator Laurie Nunn planned to end the story of Sex Education with season 4. So, we will not be getting a fifth season.

Despite the extremely high viewership numbers, we aren’t getting another season because Nunn decided to wrap things up.

When asked about season 4, Nunn told Tudum “It’s the end as we know it.”

However, when talking about her future and the potential for more Moordale-based projects, she did tease the possibility of certain spinoffs. She said:

“I’m definitely taking a break and thinking about other things. But Moordale is a really rich world, and writing about teenagers is always a lot of fun. So, I think that there’s always potential for more to be explored in that world.”

Whether we get spinoffs based on other characters from Sex Education remains to be seen. It’s also possible for Nunn to move on to creating other new and unrelated projects in the future.

Did Sex Education get canceled?

No, Sex Education did not get canceled. It was always planned to end with season 4.

The series had great viewership ratings and so was unlikely to be canceled. Instead, it was given a natural conclusion.

The ending of season 4 surprised many fans as it did something that wasn’t extremely predictable. It was a fitting end to the show, but not a lot of people were totally satisfied with it. To find out for yourself, here’s what happened with Otis and Maeve.
