A new clip from Gareth Edwards’ The Creator sees a monkey join humanity and artificial intelligence’s war.
Rotten Tomatoes shared a new clip from The Creator, which releases theatrically on September 29. The footage sees John David Washington’s character chase after Alfie (Madeleine Yuna Voyles), a young child-like robot, while a battle involving both humans and machines wages in the background. At one point, a monkey picks up a detonator and activates a bomb that proceeds to blow up a massive ship that appears to be killing innocent people.

What is The Creator about?
“Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Gemma Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself,” the official synopsis reads. “Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory… only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.”
Edwards co-wrote the screenplay for The Creator alongside Chris Weitz. In addition to Washington, Chan, and Voyles, the film also stars Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Allison Janney, Ralph Ineson, Marc Menchaca, and Veronica Ngo.
