The first trailer for Fingernails previews a science-fiction love story starring Jessie Buckley, Jeremy Allen White, and Riz Ahmed.

AppleTV+ released the first trailer for Fingernails, which comes from writer, producer, and director Christos Nikou. What is Fingernails about?

“Anna (Jessie Buckley) and Ryan (Jeremy Allen White) have found true love,” the official synopsis reads. “It’s been proven by a controversial new technology. There’s just one problem: Anna still isn’t sure. Then she takes a position at a love testing institute, and meets Amir (Rez Ahmed).”

Fingernails is Nikou’s second time directing a feature film following 2020’s Apples, which he also co-wrote. He’s also worked as an assistant director or second assistant director on titles such as Yorgos Lanthimos’ Dogtooth from 2009 and Richard Linklater’s Before Midnight from 2013.

Nikou co-wrote the screenplay for Fingernails alongside Stavros Raptis and Sam Steiner. He also produced the movie with Cate Blanchett, Andrew Upton, Coco Francini, and Lucas Wiesendanger. Glen Basner, Milan Popelka, Alison Cohen, Ashley Fox, Kevin Lafferty, and Jerome Duboz serve as executive producers.

Along with Fargo’s Buckley, The Bear’s White, and Sound of Metal’s Ahmed, Fingernails also stars Luke Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums), Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Christian Meer, Amanda Arcuri, Nina Kiri, and Clare McConnell.

Having held its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in August 2023 before playing at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Fingernails is now scheduled to hit select theaters and AppleTV+ on November 3.
