A new trailer for Disney’s Wish puts the spotlight on Chris Pine’s villainous character.
Walt Disney Animation Studios released a new trailer for Wish, an upcoming film releasing theatrically this November. The footage sees Pine’s King Magnifico explain to Ariana DeBose’s Asha that he has the unique ability to grant people’s wishes; however, he actively chooses not to help the majority of people who come to him with a request.

What is Disney’s Wish about?
“Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wish is an all-new musical-comedy welcoming audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star,” the official synopsis reads. “Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.”
Along with Pine and DeBose, Wish’s vocal cast includes Alan Tudyk as Asha’s pet goat Valentino, Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya, Victor Garber as Asha’s grandfather, and Natasha Rothwell as Asha’s mother. Jennifer Kumiyama, Evan Peters, Harvey Guillén, Ramy Youssef, Niko Vargas, Della Saba, and Jon Rudnitsky also star as Asha’s friends.
Wish is directed by Chris Buck (Frozen) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon). The movie is written by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore, while Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones serve as producers. Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice provide the original songs for the movie, while Dave Metzger is the credited composer.
Wish releases in United States theaters on November 22, 2023, from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
